Top 5 in Tech: IT Career Resources

Career advancement is on everyone’s mind, whether you’re just starting out in the field or climbing up the career ladder. Today we share the best resources and advice from our Careers section led by Ed Tittel.
While Tom's mission is to help our readers make better purchasing decisions, we dedicate a good portion of our coverage to resources around career advancement. Some of the information is geared towards anyone who works in the technology field, like the recent IT resume and salary negotiation tips, which can be helpful to many different professionals. The majority of our career related content however, is written specifically with the IT Pro in mind.

Where our career content really shines is in the personalized advice delivered by our career expert, Ed, who has responded to dozens of reader questions in the past two years. Ed has worked for over 30 years in IT in many different roles, including programming, network consulting, technical evangelism and instruction. He also spent a good deal of time writing (over 140 books!) on information security, development tools and Windows operating systems.
One career resource Ed has recommended numerous times is Pluralsight, developer, IT and now creative training (Pluralsight recently combined forces with TrainSignal and Digital-Tutors). The nice folks at Pluralsight are also the producers of this video series and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for making this project possible; especially, Jeff Hurd and Sean Lowery, who had to put up with me every week -- thanks guys!
