Find your lost Keys with Nokia’s Tiny Trackers Scream

A colorful new accessory from Nokia will help you keep your modern-day treasures close at hand.Treasure Tags are square, matchbox-sized bits of plastic you can attach to anything you don’t want to be without, things like bags, wallets, keys, and purses. Each Tag pairs to your Nokia Lumia smartphone via NFC or Bluetooth. Once linked, both the phone and the Tag will emit loud alarms if either of them moves out of range of the other–typically about 40 meters.
Even if you don’t hear the alert on the Tag, you can locate tagged items on a built-in map using the companion Treasure Tag app on your smartphone. If you don’t want the alarms to go off, it’s possible to put the Treasure Tag to sleep by pressing a button on the device.
To be fair, this isn’t exactly a new concept. Other companies, like Tile, provide similar lost-and-found functionality. In fact, Tile goes a step beyond the Treasure Tag by creating a network of nearby Tiles to help you locate your lost item in real-time. On the flipside, Tile doesn’t come with replaceable batteries, which means you’ll have to replace each device after a year or so of use. The Treasure Tag, on the other hand, uses a coin cell that you can simply pop out and replace with another.
You can buy the Tag in four colors–cyan, yellow, white and black–to match your Lumia phone. And yes, it will work with iOS and Android devices via third-party apps in the near future, says Nokia. The price? $30 bucks a pop.
