Design
I really like Pantech's design aesthetic here, which helps separate it from the crowded market of Android devices. It mixes rounded and square-off edges, with a back side that undulated top and bottom, giving it an excellent ergonomic feel. Do note there's no capacitive buttons on the phone -- everything is onscreen.
Display
The 4.8-inch touchscreen panel is very good, with excellent brightness and really vivid colors. Resolution is 1280 x 720 -- something not very common with handsets at this price range.
Camera
The main camera is a 12.6-megapixel (!) shooter that manages pretty good picture quality. Photos were crisp and colorful, but nothing that can rival those on the top of the camera phone food chain. The 1080p videos were quite good and, with a whole host of available settings, it's quite a rare performer, again, for this kind of price range.
Features
It's got all the usual roster of wireless connectivity, including 4G LTE and NFC. We also like their makeover of the UI, offring a simpler way to navigate the phone. Biggest disappointment: It only runs Android 4.0. The complement of preloaded apps are all here, along with a ton of extra.
The speakers are among the more impressive features here. While most companies are content to cram their phones with middling speakers, the Discover gets "3D speaker ears" that sound mighty impressive for their size -- none of tinny or harsh sound normally characteristic of smartphone speakers. We also liked the motion sensor feature, which allows you to perform actions by just waving at the front-facing camera.
Performance
It's powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor that, for all intents and purposes, is really fast enough to handle most of the current apps and games on the market. Call quality is average, with occasional fuzziness detected. Those on the other end, however, reported excellent sound. Speakerphone is superb compared to many phones on the market on both ends of the call. Battery is rated at 10 hours of talk time.
