Crew members will have Nexus 7 tablets on Virgin America

Nexus 7 tablets will now be on every Virgin America flight.
But don’t get too excited, because these Android slates will be for crew members only.

So what does a crew member need with a tablet? Well it isn’t for playing Plants vs Zombies (well not justthat, anyway). Passengers who order food on the touchscreen in-flight entertainment set-up in front of them will have their orders sent to the crew’s Nexus 7 tablets. The crew member’s can then view the details of the order on their Nexus 7 tablets which have been re-branded as the “CrewPad” for Virgin America’s purposes.
Branson and company tested out the Nexus 7 for 30 days before they decided to bring them on all of their flights for good. This isn’t the first time Google and Virgin have partnered up before. Previously, the airline brought on Chromebooks for its passengers to enjoy, along with in-air WiFi.
If you’re starting to feel a bit salty that you, as a passenger, won’t be getting a Nexus 7 to play with while you’re up in the air, fret not. Each seat is outfitted with its own 9-inch entertainment center that’s jam-packed with stuff to do.
