Panasonic Eluga A launches in India with a 5-inch IPS display

Panasonic has launched the Eluga A in India in hope to attract the attention of those seeking an affordable smartphone. The Panasonic Eluga A features a 5" IPS display of 854 x 480 pixel resolution (195 ppi).
Under the hood, there's a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 CPU and Adreno 302 GPU sitting on the Snapdragon 200 chipset. RAM is 1GB, while internal memory is just 4GB (expandable via the microSD card slot).

Around the back, there's an 8MP camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording and under the hood sits a 2,000mAh battery. The selfie duty is handled by a 1.3MP front-facing camera.
The phone comes with dual-SIM support and is 9.2mm thick. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and as obligatory for India, FM Radio. The Panasonic Eluga A launches in black and white and carries a price tag of about $155 (INR 9,490).
It's going to have a hard time facing the affordable market champions considering its subpar specifications. Rivals such as the ASUS Zenfone 5 ($163 (INR 10,000)) and Motorola Moto G ($171 (INR 10,499)) are a bit pricier, but offer a lot more bang for the buck.
