Facebook reportedly working on its own digital assistant

Facebook is developing its own virtual assistant, according to a report from The Information. Internally codenamed as Moneypenny, it will be available as a feature within the company's Messenger app.

However, unlike some of the popular digital personal assistants like Apple's Siri, Google Now, and Microsoft's Cortana, the Facebook's offering won't focus on productivity. According to the report, Moneypenny will instead let users "ask real people for help researching and ordering products and services, among other tasks."
There is currently no information on when the functionality will be released. The report comes just a couple of weeks after Facebook rolled out Messenger's peer-to-peer payments feature to everyone in the US.
