Today Microsoft has announced a new email app called Send. It's available already for iOS, and will come to Android and Windows Phone too in the future.
Send is very simple, being aimed at "in-and-out email". In other words, it looks like a chat client, but works with your Outlook email account and surfaces your Outlook contacts.
For now Send is working in the US and Canada for people with Office 365 business and school email accounts. It's supposed to become more broadly available at some point "in the coming months".
All of your Send conversations can be seen in Outlook, but inside Send you'll only get those threads you started from the app. Send lets you quickly blast out messages to people without entering a subject or using formal constructs. This is why Microsoft says Send is designed for "in-and-out" interactions. You get in, you quickly type a short message, then you get out.
Send has some built-in quick replies to make things even easier. These are accessed with a simple swipe. And like in the case of popular messaging apps, you also get to see when someone is typing.
