Logitech’s protection [+] power for Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5/5s does what it says on the label

Logitech has unveiled a rugged, MIL-STD rated battery case with versions for both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the old Apple iPhone 5 and 5s. The case is appropriately named “protection [+] power” and comes in Gray/Black and White/Blue.
A MIL-STD-810G rating does not include water resistance but it means the device can survive drops on hard concrete from 1.2 meters.

The bezels around the screen are raised to protect it on impact. Still, it would have been nice to see waterproofing to match the Galaxy S5′s IP67 rating.
The case itself doesn’t add too much battery – 2,300mAh – which is actually less than the Galaxy smartphone’s own battery. The metal plate on the back allows the phone to be attached to magnetic mounts like the bespoke plus-branded magnet for car vents. There’s no wireless charging though.
Both versions of the protection [+] power cases cost $100 and come with a microUSB charging cable and a quick start guide. You can check them out at Logitech’s website – the Galaxy S5 version and the iPhone version.
