Updated Dropbox for Android lets you export files to your SD card

Dropbox has updated its Android app, adding what had to be a top requested feature: the ability to export files from your Dropbox cloud storage to your mobile device’s SD card.
The latest version of Dropbox also comes with improved support for Android L, as well as faster search performance.

But this update’s main claim to fame is undoubtedly the SD card export addition. One might wonder, however, why it took so long for the Dropbox team to implement such a useful (and basic) feature. Or why you still can’t select multiple files if you want to export them (that’s Dropbox’s way of saying “copy them to your phone or tablet”). Or why you simply can’t ‘export’ an entire folder. Or why the word “export” is being used for this instead of the much more familiar “copy” or “cut”.
Anyway, if you haven’t yet received the new app, that will probably happen very soon as its rollout has already started. In the future, you can apparently get updates faster if you check “Get early releases” in the Settings menu of the Dropbox app for Android. Of course this might also mean you’ll get some beta-grade updates once in a while, so do take note of that.

  1. Dropbox works great for syncing stuff. But, I prefer Binfer when I have to send lots of file to someone. Visit http://www.binfer.com for details.
