Apple has launched updated versions of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. The key new feature is the Force Touch Trackpad first introduced with the new MacBook and the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Along with the new trackpad you also get faster flash storage and longer battery life. It comes in two models, one with a 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 that Turbo Boosts up to 3.4GHz, Intel Iris Pro Graphics, 16GB RAM, and 256GB flash storage and the other with a 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 that Turbo Boosts up to 3.7GHz, Intel Iris Pro Graphics + AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory, 16GB RAM, and 512GB flash storage.
The updated models also feature faster flash storage, which is said to be 2.5x faster than before with a throughput of 2GBps. The battery life has also been increased by an hour and is now up to 9 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 9 hours of iTunes movie playback.
The new models are priced at $1,999 and $2,499, respectively.
Apple also introduced a new cheaper variant of the iMac with Retina 5K display. The new model has 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 that Turbo Boosts up to 3.7GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290 with 2GB video memory, 8GB RAM, and 1TB hard drive. It’s priced at $1,999.
Meanwhile, the more expensive variant with 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 has seen a price drop from $2,499 to $2,299.
