Google continues with its plan to infiltrate Indian market with affordable Chromebooks. Today the search giant introduced Xolo Chromebook and Nexian Air Chromebook for INR 12,999 ($204) in the country.
Running the Chrome OS and featuring the Google Now digital assistant, these Chromebooks serve as a perfect first laptop for the young adults and those with minimal requirements.Of course, the popular Google apps are preloaded along with a handful of offline apps such as Google Docs and Gmail Offline.
Apart from exteriors and branding, both models are very similar. These Chromebooks house quad-core 1.8 GHz Rockchip RK3288 Cortex-A17 chipsets, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB built-in storage out of which only 9.6GB is available to the user and 4200 mAh batteries promising 8 hours of endurance.
The Chromebook comes with 100 GB Google’s Cloud Storage that is free for first two years. While the physical storage can be expanded by adding a memory card in the given slot. There’s a 1MP HD webcam in the front and connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.
Google also promised to introduce ASUS Chromebook C201, ASUS Chromebook Flip and others from Samsung in coming months. Additionally, Google also introduced Chromebooks for education, Chrome OS for business, and Chromebox for meetings.
Xolo Chromebook will be sold at the ecommerce website Snapdeal while the Nexian Air will be sold a Amazon India portal.
