The latest from ASUS out of IFA 2014 includes its first smartwatch powered by Android Wear, the ZenWatch.
The ZenWatch, produced in partnership with Google, features a curved glass design and a case that designed to follow the contours of your wrist, alongside a premium leather strap.
In terms of specifications, the ZenWatch sports a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, alongside 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM. The screen is of the AMOLED variety, covered in Gorilla Glass 3 and with a 1.63-inch diagonal of a square 320 x 320px resolution. There’s an IP55 dust- and water-resistance rating, and it comes with silver and rose-gold colored layers.
In terms of fitness tracking, the ZenWatch is capable of measuring your step count, heart rate, and stress levels by syncing with ASUSs ZenUI. The ZenWatch manager app lets you customize watchfaces, unlock your attached smart device, and even locate your phone. Some exclusive features to ASUS smartphones include Remote Camera and Presentation controls via special ASUS apps.
Through the devices’ wellness manager app, the ZenWatch can provide feedback and tips on how to reduce your stress levels, as well as track your fitness activities – allowing you to set goals and providing weekly and daily fitness reports.
The ASUS ZenWatch will run €199 and will be available in select markets by years’ end.
