CAT has announced the new rugged Android smartphone called CAT S50. In addition to its military-grade protection it also offers shatter-proof screen glass.
CAT S50 features a 4.7" 720p display and runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor. The rest of the specs include an 8MP rear camera with 720p video and LED flash, 8GB expandable storage, LTE connectivity and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS free of any customizations.
The CAT S50 has two different protection ratings - IP67 and MIL-810G. The IP67 certification means the CAT S50 is dust protected and water resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
The MIL-810G rating enhances promises salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistance.
Finally, CAT has added a proper shatter-proof front glass for even better protection.
CAT has also included its newly announced CAT App Store with 1000+ hand-picked apps, most relevant to the CAT users.
CAT S50 is already hitting the shelves in selected stores worldwide. It costs $500 in the USA and €479 in Europe. You can have it in range of colors including Forest and Slate, and each S50 will come in shock absorbent rubber.
