Nikon announces D750, FX-format DSLR

Nikon has announced the new D750 ahead of Photokina, their latest FX-format DSLR. For those who don’t know, FX is Nikon’s nomenclature for full frame sensor cameras. The D750 sits between the D610 and the D810 and is the successor to the old D700. It’s aimed at the prosumer market and will compete with the Canon EOS 6D.
The D750 has a full-frame 24.3 megapixel CMOS sensor powered by the EXPEED 4 processor. There is also a stunning 51 point AF system from the D810, and the camera has a burst rate of 6.5fps.

Other features include built-in Wi-Fi and a tilting Vari-Angle LCD, both a first for a Nikon full-frame camera. The display is 3.2-inch and has a resolution of 1,229k dots. The camera can also record 1080p video in 60, 30 and 24fps.
The D750 has two SD card slots and you can record to them simultaneously or can be recorded to the card while simultaneously be outputted to an external recorder through the HDMI out. The camera also has headphone and microphone jacks, stereo microphones, and Zebra stripes to spot overexposed areas.
All of this is put in a monocoque body with carbon fiber for the front body and front cover and magnesium alloy for the rear cover and top cover.
Along with the camera, Nikon also announced a new NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED lens and the SB-500 Speedlight.
The Nikon D750 will be available in late September for $2299.95 (body only) and with the AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4 VR lens in mid-October. The AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED lens will be available in late September for $799.95 and the SB-500 Speedlight for $249.95.
